CO2 REGULATOR NEEDLE VALVE

REGULATOR_WITH_NEEDLE_VALVE

CO2 REGULATOR NEEDLE VALVE.  This set has a CO2 Regulator with Needle Valve. We've put this set together to provide our customers with an ECONOMICAL but upgradable approach to getting into compressed CO2 use.

REGULATOR: This is a Chinese made regulator but is of very good workmanship. It is guaranteed by the manufacturer for 30 days but PlantGuild is confident enough in it to continue that guarantee for a full year when used to provide CO2 in aquariums. The regulator comes with a brass adaptor fitting to adapt to male or female standard CO2 cylinder valves

NEEDLE VALVE: the needle valve is of solid brass construction. This valve can be adjusted down to about one bubble about every 7 or 8 seconds which is much less than most aquaria will require.

CO2 CYLINDER NOT INCLUDED We do not include a CO2 cylinder with the set because we know that you'll be able to find a used cylinder at a good price locally. There are two good sources for CO2 cylinders, one is the carbonated beverage industry, and the other is fire extinguishers servicers. Just look in the Yellow Pages under Carbonic Gas and under Fire Extinguishers.  Call the listings and ask if they have any used 5 lb. or 10 lb. CO2 cylinders available. Most of these were previously fire extinguishers and there are a lot of them around. You should be able to find one of these for less than $35. Pressured gas cylinders must have a safety test every 5 years, and are marked on the top near the valve with the last date of testing, this is called the crown markings. Make sure to ask if the cylinder has current crown markings and if they will fill it as part of the price. The cylinder must also have a standard valve, not an extinguisher type valve/handle assembly. Most of these sources will also be able to refill your cylinder. This usually costs between $10 and $15 per fill. In a standard size aquaria one fill should last up to a year running 24 hours per day.
